
The series begins with “The Apple Orchard,” in which protagonist Tess Delaney restores stolen treasures to their rightful owners while uncovering her own family’s hidden past. The Bella Vista Chronicles: Centered around the idyllic Sonoma County, the Bella Vista Chronicles delve into themes of family, friendship, and the power of memories. Wiggs often connects her stories, allowing her to revisit established characters.

Her first single-title story, “The You I Never Knew,” was published in 2001. In addition to her romance novels, Wiggs began writing single-title women’s fiction in 2000. Romantic Times has twice named her a Career Achievement Award winner. In 1993, she received the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA Award for her novel “Lord of the Night.” She was recognized again in 2000 for “The Charm School.” Additionally, Wiggs has won RITA Awards for “The Mistress” (2000) and “Lakeside Cottage” (2006). Over the years, Susan Wiggs has received numerous awards and accolades for her work, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in the romance genre. Wiggs made the transition to full-time writing in 1992. Since then, her contemporary and historical romances have been set in various time periods and locations, often inspired by places she has lived or visited. In 1987, Zebra Books published Wiggs’ debut novel, “Texas Wildflower,” a Western historical romance.

Using “A Book About Some Bad Adults” as her working title, she spent three years crafting her first published novel. In 1983, after running out of reading material one evening, she began writing once more. Despite this shift, she continued to read novels, particularly those in the romance genre. Her passion for writing began during her childhood, and by the age of eight, she had completed her first novel, “A Book About Some Bad Kids.” Wiggs is a graduate of Harvard University.įollowing her graduation, Wiggs temporarily set aside her dream of becoming a novelist to pursue a career as a math teacher.
